The Langener IT-service provider abass GmbH celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2014. Instead of accepting gifts from the congratulators, the service business makes gifts themselves. With the donation of 1000 Euros to the Civic Foundation, the board of directors, Bärbel Thomin-Schäfer and Konrad Delp, wants to express their allegiance to their hometown. It is important for them to support the foundation and its work, the donators emphasize. “Furthermore, we profit from the excellent infrastructure of the city, which is why we want to give something back.”
In their office in the Weserstraße, they hand over a symbolic check to mayor Frieder Gebhardt and civic foundation chairman Uwe Daneke. This money is supposed to increase the endowment.
Gebahrdt thanked the entrepreneurs: “It is wonderful that you support the foundation. With the increase of the financial base, you provide an opportunity to continue to support important projects in Langen. I hope that your example will find many imitators.”
The Civic Foundation was founded in 2010. It enables citizens as well as enterprises to be actively involved in the shaping of the city of Langen and the co-existence of the people. According to the motto: “Citizens help Citizens” it supports projects for children, teenagers, seniors and families, as well as the youth and disabled sports. In the past, the Civic Foundation promoted the Langener Tafel, different sports clubs, the Sankt-Albertus-Magnus-Church to purchase a window made by the Langener glass painter Professor Johannes Schreiter, the meeting center “Haltestelle” and the association of the Sonnenblumenschule.
